It has been more than a while since I last logged on to write, but it's only because I didn't really have any news I was willing to share at the moment. But, as my 12th week comes to an end, Dave and I are finally ready to share our news with the world!!! Actually, my dad and Dave's mom already shared the news with a lot of the world...but that's a whole other story in itself. (btw, anyone know what it's called when you do that to words...another/whole combined into a whole 'nother?)
So here's an account of what the past 12 weeks have been like...
April 8, 2008 - took first pregnancy test...shocked to see two lines instead of one...disbelief sets in. Called Mom to let her know.
April 9, 2008 - took second pregnancy test...two lines, very bold, again! Yes, we are preggos! Called doctor...no real rush to go in according to the nurse, so we schedule our first appointment for May 7, 2008.
between April 9 - May 7 = trying my best to limit my Diet Coke habit to one per day...continued prenatal pills...tired as heck at times...become a "napper," which is something I rarely did before. No real sickness/nausea (except once in a while when brushing my teeeth). Bought What to Expect When You're Expecting. More due to overeating than anything else, pants are getting tight. I think I'm going to have a HUGE butt throughout this pregnancy!
May 7 - First Doctor's Appointment with Dr. Ikehara. Weight = 109 (what the heck???) Blood Pressure - idk, fine. Ultrasound...we actually see the BABY!!! That's a trip! At this point she/he is about 1.75 centimeters! We see the HEART beating super fast!!! Doctor gives us a picture...just in time to send to both mom's for Mother's Day! Doctor says no soda...he must be smoking crack. I'll try...
May 28 - Second Doctor's appointment. Seriously, all we do is answer a lot of questions about our health history, then doctor comes in for five minutes, lets us listen to baby's heart, and that's it! Kind of anti-climactic, but in talking to other moms, that's how it is. Scheduled next appoinment for June 25...bloodwork will be done before then for Down's and other stuff.
Beyond this, the pregnancy has been pretty uneventful. I'm naturally moody and fussy...seems to be extra intense at times, but that could just be normal me at the end of the school year during a stressful time. Forgetfulness still normal...geez, all the symptoms are things I already experience as it is so sometimes it's hard to tell that I'm actually pregnant!
Now that most people know, at least I don't have to lie when people ask if I'm pregs. That's been the most uncomfortable part!
I think that's all for now. Looking forward to see a little belly start to appear, but I guess that'll come in the next couple months. Interesting to know that baby is now almost 3 inches long...and that if it is a boy, testosterone is already in full force! I think that's why I'm seeming to be hairier, but that's just a guess! Heehee. Maybe it's just wishful thinking!
